Haj pilgrims on board an aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines
: Biman Bangla-desh Airlines will transport 63 thousand 500 Haj pilgrims in this year's Haj season. This year, 1,27,000 Haj pilgrims are expected to go to Saudi Arabia to perform Haj.
According to schedule of Haj operation, recently announced by Biman, the national flag carrier will operate in all 515 flights, including 422 dedicated flights. To bring back Haj pilgrims, Biman will operate 338 flights including 278 dedicated ones.
The Haj flight will start from July 24 and conclude on August 26. The return flights on the other hand, will start from September 6 and conclude on October 5.
For this year's Haj operation, the airline has decided to employ six wide body B777 aircraft. It addition its own four, Biman is going to take lease of two more similar aircraft. The process of taking lease is in final stage.
It may be recalled, of the total 101,827 Haj pilgrims last year, Biman transported 49,545 of them.
Altogether 127,198 Bang-ladeshi pilgrims will perform the Haj this year.
Other than the 10,000 going on government packages, the rest will have to avail private packages.
Pilgrims, who want to perform the Haj this year, will have to spend at least Tk 14,000 more than last year.
