: A two-day workshop on career in airline sector, organised by Airline Club of in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, concluded successfully on November 25 at the conference hall of the SCCI.
Presided over by M M Ahmed, President of Airline Club of Sylhet, the concluding session of the workshop, which was inaugurated on November 23, was attended by Ariful Huq Choudhury, Mayor of City, as chief guest. Khandakar Siper Ahmed, President of Chamber of Commerce and Industry and founder President of Airline Club of Sylhet, and Mohammad Hafiz Ahmed, Manager, Osmany International Airport, were special guests.
Others who were present at the inaugural ceremony were : Mohammad Mustafa, District Manager of Biman Bangladesh Airlines; Abdul Jabbar Jalil, Chairman of ATAF-Sylhet; Ikramul Kabir, President of Press Club; Al Azad, President of Electronic Media Association and Kamrul Islam, General Manager of US-Bangla Airlines.
Addressing the concluding function of the workshop, chief guest Ariful Huq Choudhury said with huge expatriate community, zone has great potential for aviation sector. Moreover, by using aviation sector, it is possible to achieve economic progress, by exploiting potentials of tourism in the country.
Lauding the role of the organisations, working to develop aviation sector, the Mayor said through holding training workshop and information-based seminars, younger generation can be made interested in aviation.
As special guest, Khandakar Shiper Ahmed said considering the potentials of aviation sector for Sylhet, his organization extended hands of cooperation in holding the workshop. He assured such cooperation in future as well.
President of the function Ahmed said that younger generation of the country are interested in building career in aviation sector. But due to lack of enough knowledge and direction in this regard, they are failing to join this potential sector.
He thanked City Corporation and SCCI for extending all help in holding the workshop.
On the concluding day, a raffle draw was held among the participants. In the raffle draw US-Bangla Airlines offered tickets on Sylhet-Bangkok-and Sylhet-Kath-mandu-and NOVOAIR offered tickets for Sylhet-Dhaka-and Dhaka-Cox's Bazar-Dhaka.
Among others, Vice Chair-man of SCCI Mohammad Emdad Hossain; Aziz Ahmed Selim, President of District Press Club; Sohel Mazid, Deputy Director (M&S) US-Bangla Airlines; Misbahul Islam, Head of Sales & Marketing, NOVOAIR; Chief Consultant of Bituen Ahmed Rezaul Karim; Fawzul Huq, Chief Adviser of Airlines Club of Sylhet; Asst Manager of Shebry Jottirmoy Das and Abdul Jalil Jabbar, Chairman of ATAB Zone also spoke on the occasion.
A total of 75 trainees participated in the workshop. They were given certificates.
