MTB launch UnionPay payment solutions

Dhaka : Mutual Trust Bank Ltd. (MTB) has started issuing UnionPay cards as the first commercial bank in the country, in collaboration with UnionPay International.

MTB has also launched UnionPayQR code payment, digital wallet and virtual cards.

Cai Jianbo, CEO of UnionPay International, Md Hedaye-tullah, Chairman, Rashed A Chowdhury, Director and former Chairman, MA Rouf, JP, Director and former Chairman and Anis A Khan, Managing Director and CEO of MTB attended the launching ceremony of MTB UnionPay Payment Solutions.

Following signing of an agreement between MTB and UnionPay International in Shanghai, China, in March, 2018, MTB has brought these unique and innovative payment services on a much secured platform within a very short period of time.

UnionPay International has become the first international card organisation to launch QR code payment, e-wallet and digital card issuance business in Bangladesh.

According to the agreement, MTB is issuing UnionPay debit and credit cards (both contact and contactless) as the first commercial bank in Bangladesh.

The bank will also accept UnionPay cards, issued worldwide, across its wide network of Point of Sales (POS) devices and ATMs.

Both Mutual Trust Bank Ltd and UnionPay International aim at taking the payment ecosystem of Bangladesh to a new height through this partnership.

Mutual Trust Bank Ltd. (MTB) is a third generation private commercial bank, based in Dhaka, Bangladesh and has been adjudged as the Best Financial Institution of 2014 at the DHL-Daily Star Business Awards 2015.

Earlier, MTB had also received the first-ever best "SME Bank of the Year" and best "Women Entrepreneurs' Friendly Bank of the Year" by Bangladesh Bank and SME Foundation.
