Dhaka : United Hospital has announced the launch of Pain Clinic at the hospital premise recently which will be run by Dr Ashia Ali and Dr Naima Siddiquee.
Dr Ashia Ali, DA, FCPS is a Senior Anesthesiologist who has keen interest in Pain Management and has done her fellowship in Pain Medicine. She has been running Pain Clinic successfully in two other corporate hospitals of the city where she was serving earlier.
Dr Naima Siddiquee, a Physiatrist, has done FCPS in PM&R (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) from BSMMU and has further done observership in PM&R from Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. She is leading the PM&R department of UHL for last few years and currently practising musculo-skeletal and joint pain management.
To deal with knee pain, back pain (upper and lower), neck pain, shoulder pain and other musculo-skeletal and joint pain, United Hospital Pain Clinic will have all options of intra-articular sono-guided interventional pain-relieving procedures, platelet rich therapy (PRP) etc, said the hospital in a statement.
Platelet Rich Therapy will also be used in osteo-arthritis, rotator calf injury, ankle pain, planter fasciitis, sacro-iliac joint pain, lumbar disc pain, tennis elbow, achiles tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome and others.
United Hospital Pain Clinic will further deal with severe or chronic pains as in diabetes induced frozen shoulder or in different cancer cases like nerve pain, bone pain, soft tissue pain or other referred pain. Use of morphine in intra-thecal pump for Cancer patients, one of the effective ways to deal with many cancer pains, will also be offered from here.
To relieve long term chronic pain as in slipped disc in degenerative disc diseases, facet arthropathy, sacroiliitis or even in post-operative pain like in post-laminectomy syndrome, interventional pain reliever methods like epidural injection, nerve block, medial branch block, epidurolysis etc will further be practiced in United Hospital Pain Clinic.
"The clinic will also give treatment to relieve pain addressing the root cause of the pain, not just to suppress the pain," added the hospital in a press release.
