Biman’s first hajj flight leaves Dhaka

Dhaka : Ranga Provat, a Boeing 777-300 ER of the national carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines with 418 pilgrims on board left Hazra Shahjalal International Airport this morning at 7:45 hrs.

Rashed Khan Menon, Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, Principal Matiur Rahman, Minister for Religious Affairs along with senior management of Biman and Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh were present at the airport among others to send off the BG-1011 flight. The flight is scheduled to reach Jeddah at 2:12 pm, local time.

Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Hajj activities for the current season, at Ashkona Hajj Camp yesterday, July 22.

On the first day of hajj operations two more flights and one schedule flight are to carry pilgrims to Jeddah. . Hajj flights BG-3011 and BG-7011 , each with 419 passengers to leave at 11:55 am and 7:55 pm respectively, while schedule flight BG-0035 to depart at 8:40 pm. Hajj flights are planned to operate from Chittagong and Sylhet as well.

This year Biman will carry 63,599 out of total 127,198 pilgrims from Bangladesh. Biman to operate a total of 345 flights ; 283 dedicated and 62 scheduled during two months of their Hajj operations. Out of those 177 pre-hajj flights will be operated from July24-August 26 and 168 post-hajj flights from September6-October 5.

Economy class return fare on -Jeddah- route has been fixed at US$ 1,475 by Biman. The amount is excluding of other applicable taxes.
