Dhaka airport opens after 2 hrs of Thai Airways mishap

Dhaka (July24): Bangladesh main international airport was temporarily closed after Thai Airways (TG 321) flight from Bangkok to Dhaka experienced a mishap while approaching in monsoon rain.

According to sources, the aircraft after landing from the south at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport had burst its wheels and skidded on the main runway, blocking take-off and landing of all scheduled flights.

The incident occurred at 12:20pm. The Boeing 777 aircraft remains stranded at the airport main runway (until 2:30pm) and efforts are underway to remove the Thai aircraft safely to the parking bay.

After two hours, the airport was reopened to regular traffic. Several schedules flights were delayed, causing frustration of hundreds of passengers.

Earlier, all the passengers were safely removed from the beleaguered Thai plane and taken to the main terminal.

The passenger had to wait for few hours for getting their luggage, as deliveries of the belongings were delayed, which lying in the cargo hold of the aircraft.

“The plane landed with a heavy jerk, triggering panic among passengers. Many were screaming,” a passenger told a TV channel.
