Chittagong Travel Mart-2017 ends with record number of visitors

Chittagong : The three-day international tourism fair titled "US-Bangla Airlines Chittagong Travel Mart-2017" concluded at The Peninsula Chi-ttagong hotel in the port city on November 18 with record number of visitors and equally good business transactions.
Organisers of the fair said about 5,000 visitors visited the fair and over Tk 1 crore worth of business were transacted. The visitors took advantage of the discounted fares offered by private airlines of the country, tour packages of travel agents, tour operators and hotels.
Twenty-two organisations including airlines, tour operators, hotels, resorts, health care service providers parks and other organisations, providing tourism related services, exhibited their products and services at the fair.
The raffle draws every evening made the fair more interesting to the visitors. Two airlines_ US-Bangla Airlines and Regent Air-ways_ offered Chittagong_ Kolkata, Chitta-gong-Singa-pore and Chi-ttagong-Dhaka round-trip tickets on all the three days.
Earlier, AJM Nasir Uddin, Mayor, Chittagong City Corporation inaugurated the fair on November 16 morning as the chief guest.
Organised by the leading tourism publication, The Bangladesh Monitor, the Title Sponsor of the fair was US- Bangla Airlines.
The Mayor in his speech stressed the need for declaring the Chittagong as a "Tourism Hub," considering the potentials of the region. He further informed that Chittagong City Corporation (CCC), in partnership with various stakeholders is going to undertake few initiatives in the next few months for development of tourism in the region.
Presided over by Dr Md Nasir Uddin, CEO, Bangladesh Tourism Board, the inaugural ceremony was addressed by Arjun Das, Director, Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Md Muslim, Additional DIG, Tourist Police, Md Kamrul Islam, General Manager, Marketing Support and Public Relations, US-Bangla Airlines and Kazi Wahidul Alam, Editor, The Bangladesh Monitor.
In his welcome speech, Kazi Wahidul Alam said considering that Chittagong region has immense tourism potentials, The Bangladesh Monitor has been organising the fair for last nine years. He expressed the hope to organise the fair in a bigger scale in future.
