ICCB offers a truly int'l standard MICE venue in city

Dhaka : A seven lakh square feet convention city with a capacity to accommodate over 20,000 guests at a time, five spacious halls, well-groomed staff, international standard amenities and greenery to match_ yes, all these facilities are available for national and international organisations to hold their grand MICE events at ease at International Convention City Basundhara (ICCB).

M M Jasim Uddin, Head of Operations, International Convention City Bashun-dhara, said, MICE venues like International Convention City Bashundhara helps attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) through the holding of meetings, exhibitions, conventions and exhibitions.

The more exhibitions are held, the more there is mingling of the buyers and sellers, the more there is exchange of technology.

Here the captains of the industry_ as well as the decision makers, investors and their advisers_ are able to see emerging technologies, machineries displayed before them, hold discussions with each other, which often lead to investment decisions.

MM Jasim Uddin said it is the only place in the city which is able to offer seven lakh square feet of space with five big air-conditioned halls.

The one and a half lakh square feet Expo Zone, macadam work of which will be completed soon, will open up further space where still more heavy machineries would be displayed.

Since its opening in 2015, all the major exhibitions - whether it is textile, construction, RMG, agro-chemicals_ all have been held here.

In 2015-2016 we received over five million visitors which went up to 6.5 million in 2016-17 (up to June). Jasim Uddin said.

The whole premises will be self-sufficient in electricity by January 2018 when 4.5 MW electricity sub-station will be completed.

Five halls

The 44,000 square feet Noborattri is the biggest of the five halls, which can seat 3,000 plus persons theatre style. Gulnaksha, Pospo-gusso and Rajdarshan are 30,000 square feet each, offering 90,000 square feet space in total. The three can each seat 1800 persons theatre style. The 6600 (3300+3300) square feet Seminar Hall can seat 140 person theatre style.

Noborattri has a mezzanine floor area of 5500 square feet, while Gulnaksha, Pospogusso and Rajdarshan_ each has mezzanine floor area of 2050 square feet each.

Jasim Uddin said ICCB is uniquely designed not only for large trade fairs and expositions, conferences, corporate seminars, university convocations, annual general meetings, award receptions, product launches, fashion shows, concerts but also for mehendi, birthday, anniversary or other family programmes.

Whether the clients are hosting a corporate board meeting only for a few or musical nights/international examinations for thousands, ICCB staff customise the seating arrangements accordingly.

What's more, there are break out rooms, prayer rooms, fresh rooms, green rooms (make-up and rest place) in the premises.


If you are wondering about parking cars, over 2000 of them can be parked here at a time, ICCB offers shuttle service, and if you want to arrive in a helicopter there is a helipad too.

The whole area is covered by CCTV and guarded by Bashundhara's own security force. ICCB offers uninterrupted internet within the premises. All the venues are wheelchair accessible.

ICCB is located besides Kuril Bishwa Road, next to the 300-feet Purbachal Express Highway. The area will look all the more beautiful when a lake is constructed around it.

A Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Human Resource Manage-ment from University of Dhaka, Jasim Uddin started the career in sales sector of FMCG industry in 1998, later contributing significantly to country's tobacco, food and beverage, cement, papers and tissue and media industry.

Besides being Head of Ope-rations, ICCB, he is also Head of Marketing, Bashundhara LP Gas Ltd., the country's largest LP gas brand.
