Foreign language training for tour guides concludes

Dhaka : A closing ceremony of foreign language-based tour guide training course, organised by Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB), was held at Modern Language Institute auditorium on June 3.

The Board, to empower tourist guides of the country, imparts training on foreign language tour guiding in collaboration with Modern Language Institute of University.

At the request of tour operators, BTB has begun spoken language courses for tour guides on Spanish, French, Italian and Arabic languages. It was felt that foreign language speaking tour guides on Chinese, Japanese and Korean is absent.

During the period of 2017-2018 fiscal year, BTB has introduced seven foreign language courses on Chinese, Japa-nese, Korean, Spanish, French, Italian and Arabic.

The successful participants of the courses have been provided alternative job placement as tour guides.

The current language course was participated by 84 trainees during the period June 21-27 and June 28 for field training.

Reputed tour operators and tour guides were resource persons for the training for foreign language tour guides.

On the concluding day of the language training, Moha-mmad Mohibul Haque, Acting Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, while Akhteruzzaman Zaman Khan Kabir, Chairman, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) and Nikhil Ranjan Rai, acting Executive Director, BTB spoke at the occasion and distributed certificates among 84 participants.
