Dhaka: Md Mokammel Hossain, has taken over as the new Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism (MoCAT), Bangladesh. He is a member of the 10th BCS Administration Cadre. Before his new assignment, he was serving as the Addl Secretary (APD) of the Ministry of Public Administration.
Hossain joined the Bangladesh Civil Service in 1991 and started his career as the Assistant Commissioner at the office of Khulna Deputy Commissioner. Later, he served at the BCS Administration Academy and Bangladesh Public Service Commission Secretariat. He worked under different Ministries in various capacities, starting from the Assistant Secretary to the Joint Secretary. He also served as the Private Secretary of the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister and Addl Secretary of the SDG Coordinator Office under the Prime Minister's Office. During his long career, he also carried out the responsibilities as the First Secretary (Labour) at the Bangladesh High Commission in Singapore and as the Counselor (Labour) at the Bangladesh Consulate General Office, Jeddah.
Hossain completed Honours and Masters in Economics from the University of Dhaka. Later, he obtained his MBA from the Singapore Nanyang Technological University.
Hossain received 'Special Performance Award' as the best labour counselor while serving as the Counselor (Labour) at the Bangladesh Consulate General Office in Jeddah.
