Hong Kong : Bangladeshis are eligible for Hong Kong transit without visa when travelling on Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon flights.

The travellers will not be allowed to leave Hong Kong Interna-tional Airport (HKIA) and must hold valid visas to US, Canada, Aus-tralia, New Zealand, Japan, The Republic of Korea, United Kingdom or Schengen states.

The latest TWOV (Transit without visa) update said, transit time in Hong Kong is same day or within 12 hours if cross calendar day.

If the visas of the mentioned countries are used or expired, Bangladeshi nationals can still be granted airside transit visa exemption in Hong Kong on their return trip to Bangladesh provided they are returning from the mentioned countries they were holding visas for, it said.

Bangladesh nationals intending to leave Hong Kong International Airport or use hotel accommodation arranged by Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon or any other party during their transit in Hong Kong, are still required to hold valid transit visa for Hong Kong.

Should travellers not be eligible for the waiver, they must ensure to obtain necessary visas for transit via Hong Kong before commencing their journey.

In some cases, passengers may also avail transit visa exemptions in Hong Kong (without having a valid visa for the countries mentioned above) if they have prior arrangements for TWOV (Transit without visa) subject to approval which is a mandatory requirement.

Agents need to contact Cathay Pacific Airways Dhaka city office for such arrangement before ticketing at least three working days prior to the departure date.

They have been urged to ensure that their valued customers have all the above mentioned requirements fulfilled before the commencement of journey.
