Bangkok : Indonesian online travel platform Traveloka has rolled out a new feature, Xperience, on its application to users in Thailand, which is the first country in Southeast Asia to receive the new service.
Users will be able to choose from 11 types of activities across categories and themes such as attractions, tours, beauty and spa, events, entertainment, sports, playgrounds, transport, travel essentials, food and drinks and classes and workshops.
Traveloka currently offers more than 15,000 travel and lifestyle activities in 300 destinations, and is expected to make a splash in Thailand, the platform's second-largest market.
According to Sylvia Gunawan, Vice-President, Traveloka Xperience, the services of the feature are tipped to cater to millennials' preference for spending time and money on experiences rather than products.
The new feature aims to "tackle the challenges surrounding e-reservation for travel and tourism products", such as lack of credibility among service providers and too many options for clients.
Traveloka has provided solutions to reduce offline operations, such as ensuring that theme park tickets are purchased online and connecting tourists with trustworthy operators to create more credibility in the tourism industry, said Gunawan.
Tee Chayakul, Country Manager, Traveloka Thailand, said that while other online travel agencies (OTAs) are looking to shift their focus to larger markets worldwide, Traveloka hopes to "promote more second-tier provinces to support and contribute to income to local operators".
Traveloka has 35 million active users in seven countries: Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia.
