Jazeera Airways now flying daily from Dhaka to Kuwait

The airline returns to strong profitability in Q3 2021 with KD 11.8 million in net profit

Dhaka : Jazeera Airways launched daily flights on Dhaka-Kuwait route from October 31. In celebration, Jazeera Airways organised a networking event for its top agents in Bangladesh at a city hotel on November 2 where they enjoyed a fun filled evening while watching live T20 cricket match of Bangladesh vs South Africa. 
Sachine Nene, Area Manager, Bangladesh and Nepal of Jazeera Airways was present on the occasion along with the entire reservation and airport team of the airline and its top agents. 
Speaking at the event, Sachine Nene announced, Jazeera Airways is planning to commence flights on Chattogram-Kuwait route by December this year with three weekly services. 
Also, the airline is aiming to add two more frequencies on Dhaka-Kuwait route from January 2022, taking the total number of flights a week to nine and eventually grow in summer. 
Jazeera Airways will also be adding many new destinations to its network in 2022. Sachine Nene expressed the airline has already launched operations to London Heathrow with two weekly services. 
In 2022, the airline is also eyeing to start fights to Birmingham, Manchester and CIS countries, mentioned the Area Manager. 
Nevertheless, Jazeera is underway continues expansion, he added. The airline has increased its frequencies to destinations such as Saudi Arabia and Dubai. 
On Dhaka-Kuwait route, the airline operates A321neo. They are planning to use the same aircraft to and from Chattogram as well, said Nene. 
At the end of the networking event, Jazeera held a raffle draw for the agents where two lucky winners won round trip tickets to London and Istanbul.  
Records KD 11.8m profit in Q3 2021 
Jazeera Airways on November 1 reported a return to profitability in the third quarter of the year, registering KD 11.8 million, following an ease in travel restrictions and increase in vaccinations in Kuwait and throughout the airline's network. 
Number of passengers flown in Q3 increased by 361.8 per cent to 302.9 thousand, while the load factor increased by 26.7 per cent to 65.6 per cent despite the restrictions that were still imposed on capacity at Kuwait International Airport during the quarter. 
Operating revenue stood at KD 31.7 million, up 421.7 per cent from Q3 2020, and operating profit was KD 12.8 million, up 332.2 per cent from Q3 2020 with an operating margin of 40.5 per cent. 
The company successfully offset previous losses to report a net profit of KD 70.6 thousand supported by an increase in operating revenue by 44.2 per cent to reach KD 47.3 million during the nine months period of 2021. 
Nine-month review 
Jazeera launched eight new routes during the nine-month period of 2021, serving popular tourist and expat destinations that comprised Colombo (Sri Lanka), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Yerevan (Armenia), Antalya (Turkey) and Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) in addition to London Heathrow airport as the first low-cost carrier (LCC) in the Middle East to operate direct flights to the airport. 
The airline also rolled out its summer schedule with favourite destinations for tourists, such as the Lebanese capital, Beirut, and other popular summer destinations including Tbilisi (Georgia), Trabzon and Bodrum (Turkey). 
Jazeera also took delivery of three Airbus A320neo aircraft during the year as part of an order for four A320neos to be delivered by the end of 2021, which will bring the fleet to 17 aircraft.
