Mastercard announces winners of 'London Calling with Mastercard' campaign

Dhaka : Mastercard, a worldwide credit card company concluded its Eid campaign 'London Calling with Mastercard', with an award ceremony held at Lakeshore Hotel, Dhaka.

The grand prize was won by Shirin Munir, an all-expense paid couple trip to London. The campaign aimed to boost digital payments by encouraging the use of credit, debit and prepaid cards during the festive season of Ramadan. The other winners received a range of over 100 exciting gifts such as large-screen TVs, air conditioners, iPhone 8's, microwave ovens, washing machines, wrist watches, dinner coupons and gift vouchers.

Throughout the Ramadan month from May 1 leading up to June 30, all cardholders earned points from using their Mastercard brand credit, debit or prepaid cards for any retail/in-store or online transaction of Taka 1000 or above. The cardholders who earned the maximum points basis the frequency of their transactions received prizes from Mastercard.

Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Ahmed Jamal, was the chief guest and said, "Campaigns like this from Mastercard and partner banks have increasingly promoted the use of digital payments in our country. I congratulate the winners and thank all key stakeholders of the campaign for playing such a vital role in boosting digital payments in our country."

At the event, Syed Mohammad Kamal, Country Manager, Mastercard Bangladesh said, "The campaign was designed with a mission to encourage electronic payments by rewarding cardholders, and the festive season of Ramadan was the perfect time as people love to shop during this period. The grand prize, 'a trip to London', is truly the most 'priceless' experience anyone can dream of. We believe that the effort has been successful in promoting electronic payments in the country."
