SK Sur Chowdhury, Advisor, Bangladesh Bank and Naser Ezaz Bijoy, CEO, Standard Chartered Bank seen with scholarship recipients
Dhaka : Seventy nine meritorious students of University of Dhaka received "Governor Scholarship" given by the Standard Chartered Bank Bangladesh. Out of them 60 from Department of Economics and 19 from Department of Development Studies.
Shitangshu Kumar Sur Chowdhury, Advisor of Bangladesh Bank, attended the event as chief guest at Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Chowdhury Auditorium, Social Sciences Faculty Bhaban of University of Dhaka.Naser Ezaz Bijoy, Chief Executive Officer, and Bitopi Das Chowdhury, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing represented SCB on the occasion.
"I see many parallels in your stories and that of our country. The amazing growth story of our nation is characterised by resilience, a trait that has been key to your own success. But this is not the end of the story, both as a nation and individually, this is just the beginning,” said Naser Ezaz Bijoy. "As recipients of the Governor's scholarship, all of you have demonstrated that you have the resilience to overcome adversity and make positive difference to our society and country,"
Sadeka Halim, the faculty dean; Shafique uz Zaman, Chairman of the Department of Econo-mics; Md Reazul Haque, Chairman of the Department of Development Studies; Jowher Rizvi, Vice President of Dhaka University Economics Depar-tment Alumni Association were present among others.
The bank has been providing the scholarship since 2009. Till date, a total of 594 students received awards under the Governor Scholarship.
