Dhaka : The main challenge of pre-opening a hotel is putting the bigger picture together. First you need to understand the country's culture to incorporate it as per the company's philosophies.
Daniel Ludwig, General Manager of the upcoming four-star hotel Holiday Inn Dhaka said this while talking to The Bangladesh Monitor recently.
The premium four-star hospitality property Holiday Inn Dhaka is going to open its door in Tejgaon Industrial area through a soft-launch in March, 2020 in the capital.
The hotel is owned by the leading IHG Group making it the group's second hotel in the capital after the five-star InterContinental Dhaka.
There are many other international chains operating in the city. But IHG operates differently than the rest, claimed Ludwig.
"For instance, in our workforce, we have differently abled colleagues. They will be taught everything necessary for having a place in society to get back to work."
He further mentioned that there are only a few good four-star hotels in the city. So it is a niche market for Dhaka. "We aim to cater to it and make a difference with our philosophy - Everything starts with a smile."
Holiday Inn Dhaka offers 187 rooms including presidential suite, executive suites, junior, deluxe and superior rooms.
The hotel features multiple fusion and specialty restaurants. They will be offering signature cuisines of several specific regions of the world.
"One of the eye-catching attractions of the hotel is its rooftop which contains a pool, poolside bar, gym and first of its kind 360-degree view of the Dhaka city from 19th floor," Ludwig pointed out.
There will be several meeting rooms, conference hall, lobby café, pastry shop, English pub and spa among others.
A three-storied ballroom is another signature feature of the hotel that aims to attract guests to have their dream wedding and other events.
Holiday Inn Dhaka also focuses their attention to differently abled individuals, offering rooms dedicated for them.
Gradually, the hotel plans to build a tennis court as well as a park to make the guests' stay even more enjoyable in the years to come.
Daniel Ludwig joined Holiday Inn Dhaka City Centre as General Manager in September.
He has more than 26 years diversified upper-midscale, midscale and club hotels experience in the hospitality industry.
He has developed an in-depth knowledge of global cultures and guest preferences. Ludwig has the self-assurance that enables goals to be achieved, continually looking to introduce new products and services that will meet the needs of tomorrow's savvy global travellers, by incorporating the latest technologies.
Therefore, Holiday Inn Dhaka is going to be a paperless eco-friendly hotel offering state-of-the-art technologies.
For instance, guests will have to check-in using tablets and as soon as it's done, they will be automatically integrated to all the facilities and services the hotel offers, not having to provide an input in every step.
Holiday Inn Dhaka's location at the heart of Dhaka - Tejgaon Industrial area -offers convenient connectivity to the airport as well as to the city for guests. It is adjacent to Hatirjheel that allows easy access to Gulshan and its nearby areas.
On the other hand, from Tejgaon, guests can also easily move towards the Southern side of the city.
Moreover, the strategic location makes it easy for guests from all parts of the city, such as Gulshan, Motijheel, Dhanmondi and other areas, access the hotel without having to face much hassle or traffic.
