7 healthcare facilities get permission to set up RT-PCR lab at HSIA

The government on Thursday gave permission to seven healthcare facilities to set up RT-PCR lab for Covid-19 tests for outbound passengers at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

The seven facilities are Stemz Healthcare (BD) Limited, Dhaka; CSBF Health Centre; AMZ Hospital Limited, Dhaka; Anwar Khan Modern Medical College Hospital, Dhaka; Zainul Haque Sikder Women's Medical College and Hospital (Pvt) Ltd, Dhaka; Gulshan Clinic Limited, Dhaka; and DMFR Molecular Lab and Diagnostic.

The given time for setting up lab by the healthcare facilities is between three to six days, according to a letter issued by the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment.

The fees for Covid-19 test have been fixed between Tk 1,700 and Tk 2,300, it says.

The letter said seven healthcare facilities have been selected by the Directorate General of Health Services.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has been requested to allocate space for setting up lab at the airport.

Migrant workers and professionals who came home on vacation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) but later got stranded amid the pandemic had been demanding for setting up RT-PCR labs at international airports in the country after it was made mandatory by Gulf countries to have rapid Covid-19 test of foreign individuals prior to their journey.
