Cold wave freezes Saudi Arabia; temperatures drop near zero

Dhaka: An intensifying cold wave, along with active winds, is likely to continue decreasing temperatures across multiple regions of Saudi Arabia, as per a forecast from the country's National Centre for Meteorology.

The forecast said the temperature drop will impact a wide range of areas, including Makkah and Madinah, Tabuk, Al Jouf, the Northern Borders, Hail, Al Qassim, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province.

In some areas of northwestern Tabuk, temperatures dropped sharply on Sunday, especially in open places and elevated terrains, and even formed frosts. Temperatures are expected to drop further in Tabuk and persist for the next few days.

On Sunday, Arar, Qurayyat, and Turaif each witnessed 0°C, the lowest temperature reading nationwide, while Rafha fell to 3°C, and Sakaka recorded 4°C.

Authorities have warned citizens, particularly in northern regions, to take precautions against the cold, especially during morning and night hours.
