Flynas carries 2,621 pilgrims from Dhaka on first three days of Hajj flight operations

Dhaka: Low-cost carrier Flynas, the only third carrier operating hajj flights from Bangladesh besides Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Saudi Arabian Airlines, carried 2,621 pilgrims from Dhaka on the first three days of its hajj flight operations since May 21.

Khondaker Shamsul Alam, CEO of Dynasty Travels Ltd (GSA of Flynas in Bangladesh) said this talking to The Bangladesh Monitor.

The airline is operating 2-3 flights daily from Dhaka to Jeddah during this Hajj season.

On the inauguration day of Flynas’ Hajj flight operations from Dhaka (May 21), the airline carried 331 pilgrims on the first flight and 334 on the second one.

On May 22, the carrier carried 430 pilgrims on the first flight and 332 pilgrims on the second.

On May 23, the airline operated three flights from Dhaka to Jeddah and carried 430 pilgrims on the first two flights and 334 pilgrims on the third one.

Flynas has deployed brand new Airbus A300 on the route for dedicated hajj flight purposes.

However, the airline is operating two differently configured A300s on the route with one having 430 seat capacity while the other has a seat capacity of 334.

At the inauguration ceremony held on May 21 at Dhaka Airport, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali, State Minister for Religious Affairs Faridul Haque Khan, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Bangladesh Essa Yousef Essa Alduhailan, Secretary for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mokammel Hossain, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh Chairman M Mafidur Rahman, Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh President Shahadat Hossain Taslim and Dhaka Airport Executive Director Kamrul Islam, among others, were present.

The maiden hajj flight of Flynas on May 21 was celebrated by cutting a cake at the inauguration ceremony at Dhaka Airport.

In 2023, a total of 1 lac 22 thousand 221 hajj pilgrims will fly to Saudi Arabia from Bangladesh in both public and private management. Of which, 61 thousand 111 hajj pilgrims will fly on Biman while the rest on Saudia and Flynas.
