India to run luxury tourist train to northeast

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has decided to operate its very first luxury tourist train from the capital, Delhi, to the country's northeast. It is on the grapevine that the train will be up and running as early as next month.

 The train will take passengers from Delhi to five northeastern states of Assam, Arunachal, Tripura, Meghalaya and Nagaland. Each state will parade its own unique tourist experiences. The new service is part of promoting tourism in the region.
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will run the first luxury tourist train service from Delhi to the Northeast of the country next month. The 14-night/15-day trip starting from Delhi will cover five states in the Northeast and important destinations in these five states.

In Arunachal Pradesh, the guests will be taken to Itanagar. In Meghalaya, guests will be taken to Cherrapunjii and Shillong. Agartala, Udaipur and Unakoti will be covered in Tripura. In Nagaland, Kohima and nearby attractions will be showcased. The luxury train will have two classes of tickets - First A/c and Second A/c.
