The low-cost arm of flag carrier Singapore airlines (SIA) said that the flights to London's Gatwick airport via Bangkok will initially take place three times weekly for only two weeks, before resuming on March 22 next year.
Scoot said there could be a further review of the route and a “potential increase in frequency based on demand and regulatory approval”.
The route will be served by Scoot’s fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners offering both economy and ScootPlus cabins. It will complement Singapore Airlines’ existing flights between Heathrow and Singapore.
Campbell Wilson, Scoot’s chief executive, said: “The progressive relaxation of international borders presents new opportunities for airlines and travellers alike.
“With the ability to now travel quarantine-free between the United Kingdom and Thailand, Scoot is excited to introduce the only low-cost option between Bangkok and London.”
Scoot will serve over 30 destinations from December 2021 as the carrier “progressively builds back” to its pre-Covid network of 68 cities. Scoot also currently operates daily flights between Singapore and Bangkok.
