DHAKA: Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has received the prestigious ‘ICAO Council President Certificate’ from International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) for its significant progress in aviation safety in 2017.
The award was received on behalf of CAAB by an official delegation leader Mohibul Haque, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism at the Air Navigation Conference at Montreal in Canada on October 9. Also present at the occasion was Air Vice Marshal M Naim Hassan, chairman of CAAB.
ICAO awards Council President Certificate to member nations basically on the basis of results of ICAO Universal Safety Oversight Audit Programme Continuous Monitoring Approach (USOAP CMA) activities, including audits, ICAO Coordinated Validation Missions (ICVMs) and off-site validation activities.
ICAO provides the award to civil aviation authority of different countries around the world every year in recognition of their excellent development, efficiency and professionalism of the aviation security system.
ICAO report states that Bangladesh has made significant progress in aviation safety during the last three years which helped nominate the country for the award.
