Dhaka: Nepal Tourism Board in association with PATA Nepal chapter kicked off the four-day long international tourism fair called Himalayan Travel Mart 2019 in the Nepalese capital Kathmandu on June 6.
KP Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Nepal inaugurated the fair intending to promote tourism in the Himalayan country by facilitating networking and business opportunities among global tourism and hospitality organisations and individuals. The prime minister said, "Such events are important to help Nepal achieve the national goal – Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali.” KP Sharma further mentioned that the event would contribute to upgrade the status of Nepal to a developing country.
He also called out for joint efforts to save the Himalayas since they are important for earth and the whole mankind.
This year’s travel mart received participation of over 400 tourism representatives from around 40 countries including Nepal.
NTB positioned the fair following Nepal’s marking of 2020 as Visit Nepal Year with a target of welcoming 2 million foreign tourists.
