Biman protests publication of concocted news item
- A Monitor Desk Report 29 Dec, 2016 | 3542 Views | - + Dhaka : Biman Bangladesh Airlines has protested the publication of false and concocted news items in two newspapers and served legal notices on those newspapers.
A press release issued on December 29 by the airline said, “Biman Bangladesh Airlines have noted with concern the printing of news items with headlines like “Sylhet-bound plane goes to Kolkata,” “Biman loses direction.”
Terming the news items as untrue, baseless, concocted and heinous, it said there has been no incident of Biman’s Sylhet-bound flight landing in Kolkata. The news items are fictitious, fabricated and figment of imagination. Such false propaganda against the national carrier also goes against the state.
All concerned have been urged to check facts and desist of publishing such types of news items that go against the goodwill of Biman and hurts its image.
It regretted that “Dainik Bangladesh Pratidin” and “Dainik Sangbad” did not print rejoinders, despite these being sent to them. Given this background, legal notices have been served on the two newspapers accusing them of defaming the national carrier.
