DHAKA: Biman Bangladesh Airlines will transport 63 thousand 500 hajj pilgrims in this year’s hajj season. This year, 1,27,000 hajj pilgrims are expected to go to Saudi Arabia to perform haj.
According to schedule of hajj operation, recently announced by Biman, the national flag carrier will operate in all 515 flights, including 422 dedicated flights. To bring back hajj pilgrims, Biman will operate 338 flights including 278 dedicated ones.
The hajj flight will start from Monday, 24 July and conclude on Saturday, 26 August. The return flights on the other hand, will start from September 06 and conclude on October 05.
For this year’s hajj operation, the airline has decided to employ six wide body B777 aircraft. It addition its own four, Biman is going to take lease of two more similar aircraft. The process of taking lease is in final stage.
It may be recalled, of the total 10,1,827 hajj pilgrims last year, Biman transported 49,545 of them.
