DHAKA: The Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) has announced an elaborate program in observance of the World Tourism Day - 2017, which falls on September 27
As part of that program Janab Rashed Khan Menon, Minister for Civil Aviation & Tourism hosted a breakfast meeting at his official residence at Minto Road for the Editors of National dailies, Electronic and Travel Media this morning. It has also been attended by high officials of the Ministry of Civil Aviation & Tourism, Bangladesh Tourism Board, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, Biman Bangladesh Airline, BSL and HIL.
Speaking on the occasion Janab Rashed Khan Menon Mentioned that tourism activities in the county has grown significantly during the last few years, as part of which, we have very successfully hosted a number of international events in Bangladesh like Buddhist Circuit Tourism in Dhaka, UNWTO Commissions for Asia and Pacific, Regional Meet in Chittagong and PATA new Tourism Frontier Conference in Cox’s Bazar.
In recognition to Bangladeshi’s increased role in the development of Country’s Tourism potentials, Bangladesh has been elected as Chairman of the South Asian region of UNWTO at the 22nd general Assembly, held recently in Chengu, China, said the Tourism Minister.
He mentioned , though 2016 was declared as the visit Bangladesh year, but despite all good intentions, it couldn’t yield desired results, due to several untoward incidences in the country, resulting issuance of travel advisories by several countries, which barred their nationals to visit Bangladesh.
The breakfast meeting was arranged by Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation and the Trainees at the National Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (NHTTI) prepared an array of delicious Bangladeshi dishes which were highly appreciated by the guests.
The 10-day long program, chalked out by BPC in observance of the World Tourism Day - 2017 include among others Food Festival and cultural program, Seminar on Sustainable Tourism for future Development, Awareness program on Hygienic food, Rally, Food Fair, Sound and Light Show on the Bank of Buriganga River and live cooking show by indigenous population.
