The OIC Tourism Minister’s meet in Dhaka postponed

DHAKA: The 10th Islamic Conference of Tourism Ministers (ICTM), scheduled to be held in Dhaka from November 12 to 14, 2017 has been postponed.

In a letter on October 3 to Bangladesh Minister for Foreign Affair Abul Hasan Mahmood Ali, Secretary General of OIC Yousef A. Al-Othaimeen, communicated this decision.

Expressing appreciation for “ Bangladesh’s generous offer” to host the 10th ICTM, the OIC Secretary General said “ In view of the current political developments facing a number of Member States and in particular the ongoing situation of Rohingya Muslims of Myanmar, I feel it is not an appropriate time to hold the ICTM meeting in Dhaka”

Al-Othaimeen further said “ To this end, we would appreciate if your excellency could please consider the possibility of postponement of this important meeting and holding the same as a later stage with a view to ensure its successful outcome”.

The Secretary General of OIC , expressed sincere appreciation of the role Bangladesh is playing in dealing with Rohingya Muslim minorities of Myanmar.
