Help desk at Akhaura Land Port to ensure better passenger service

Brahmanbaria : A help desk has been set up at Akhaura land port in Brahmanbaria to provide passengers with modern services.

Zillur Rahman, Chairman of Bangladesh Land Port Authority inaugurated the help desk virtually on August 23.

An organisation called Twelve Events Meet Great Assist has opened this help desk at Akhaura Land Port for the first time among the country's land ports.

Passengers can avail other services including wheelchair and trolley service from the desk for a limited fee.

Apart from this, the help desk also has offers services to book domestic flights and train tickets in India. Additionally, passengers will also be provided with information regarding visa processing.

Nazrul Islam, Chief Executive Officer of the help desk establishment, Atiqul Islam, Assistant Director of Akhaura Land Port, Akhaura Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Angyajai Marma, Habibullah Khan, Revenue Officer of Akhaura Land Customs Station and Samaul Islam, Superintendent of Akhaura Land Port, among others, were present  at the inau-guration ceremony.

It may be mentioned here, Akhaura land port in Brahmanbaria is one of the means of communication with Northeast India by land.

Every day 700 to 800 passengers leave India through this port.

Each passenger has to pay a travel tax of BDT 1000.
