EBL’s open credit distribution program in Moulvibazar
Moulvibazar : Eastern Bank PLC (EBL), the lead bank of Moulvibazar district, organized an "Open Credit Distribution and Seminar 2026" to expand access to formal financing for low-income and underserved communities. Held under the guidance of Bangladesh Bank, the program brought together representatives from 40 scheduled banks operating in the district. The initiative aimed to promote financial inclusion by making credit more accessible to small entrepreneurs, farmers, low-income earners and people engaged in various professions. As part of the program, loan cheques were publicly distributed to selected borrowers through participating banks. Discussions at the seminar focused on how access to appropriate financing could help beneficiaries expand businesses, increase incomes and become more actively involved in the formal economy. Mohammad Salekin Ibrahim, Executive Vice President and Head of Asset, Retail and SME Banking at EBL, attended the event as chief guest. Ranjan Bar-man, Deputy General Mana-ger of Janata Bank's Area Office in Moulvi-bazar, and Kamal Hossain, Deputy General Manager and Chief Regional Manager of Bangladesh Krishi Bank, attended as special guests. Abu Sayem Muhammad Zafar Imam, Senior Vice President and Regional Head of EBL's Sylhet and Narayanganj regions, chaired the event.
