Malaysia Airlines renews materials management deal with Boeing

Dhaka: Malaysia Airlines and Boeing have renewed their Integrated Materials Management (IMM) services agreement for another five years, extending a partnership that supports the airline's maintenance operations and materials planning.

The announcement was made at the MRO Asia-Pacific event in Singapore, the American planemaker said in an official statement on September 23.

Under the deal, Boeing will continue helping Malaysia Airlines manage select parts and materials used in daily operations, including local consignment support aimed at improving access to needed materials and enabling faster responses to maintenance requirements.

The renewal is expected to help the Kuala Lumpur-based airline maintain access to critical expendables and consumables required for day-to-day fleet operations. Improved parts availability through local consignments is also expected to help streamline maintenance schedules.

Boeing said its IMM capability brings global materials management expertise to support more efficient airline maintenance planning, with the broader goal of making parts easier to access when needed and improving supply chain efficiency.

Aida Salfaraz Ahmad Fadzil, Chief Operating Officer of Malaysia Airlines, said Boeing's IMM services play an important role in supporting the airline's fleet operations, adding that consistent access to parts and materials helps maintain operational reliability while supporting safety and service delivery commitments.

William Ampofo, Senior Vice President of Parts & Distribution and Supply Chain at Boeing Global Services, said the IMM program helps airlines improve materials readiness by ensuring parts are available where and when they are needed, resulting in more efficient operations and stronger fleet performance support.
