Dhaka: Biman Bangladesh Airlines is going to begin flying to three new destinations -- Toronto, Tokyo, and Chennai -- from March, announced State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali at the commercial launch of the flag carrier’s Printing and Publishing Department in the capital on February 17.

The state minister further expressed hopes that the carrier will also launch direct flight services from Dhaka to New York soon.

Biman's fleet is now modern and young as 13 new state-of-the-art aircraft have been added to its fleet, Mahbub said, adding, two more new Dash-8 aircraft will be added to the fleet soon.

And negligence of any official of the airline will not be tolerated to ensure the highest quality passenger service, claimed the state minister.

He said the aviation and tourism industries have suffered the most due to the Covid-19 pandemic. "All the airlines in the world are currently going through a special situation. We are taking steps to reduce the operational costs of the aircraft as well as increase the revenue through various initiatives," the state minister noted.
