Dhaka: All domestic flights across the country are likely to be suspended from April 5 in line with the upcoming week-long lockdown, said a spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh today.
To curb the spread of the new coronavirus variant, the government might opt for this move, however, nothing has been officially declared yet, added the CAAB spokesperson. The upcoming gadget notice by the government about the lockdown effective April 5 will confirm the possibility of the suspension along with its duration if imposed, according to local reports.
Even though there are possibilities of suspending domestic flight operations, international flights to and from Bangladesh will run as previously scheduled and will not fall under the possible suspension order of domestic flights, the spokesperson added.
Speaking of which, despite the United Kingdom’s latest move of banning arrivals from Bangladesh amid the spread of the new Covid-19 variant, flights with the UK will continue, as usual, added reports.
