Travelport, Egyptair sign new NDC content distribution deal

Dhaka: Travel technology
company Travelport and Egypt’s national airline Egyptair have signed a
long-term distribution agreement that will provide travel agencies access to
both traditional EDIFACT content and new-generation NDC-based offerings.
Under the agreement,
agencies connected to Travelport will continue accessing Egyptair’s existing
content through established EDIFACT channels while gaining access to expanded
NDC content, including additional products and ancillary services as they
become available.
The airline’s content
will be available through Travelport’s booking application Smartpoint and its
cloud-based API platform TripServices. Travelport said the integration will
allow agencies to access airline content through a unified platform with
consistent search, booking and servicing capabilities.
Amr Adawy, Vice President
Commercial at Egyptair, said the partnership would help the airline reach
Travelport’s global agency network with a wider range of products while
continuing to support traditional distribution channels.
Damian Hickey, Global
Head of Travel Partners at Travelport, said combining EDIFACT and NDC content
would provide agencies with greater flexibility by offering the reliability of
established systems alongside richer digital content and services.
The agreement marks
another step in Egyptair’s distribution strategy as airlines worldwide
increasingly adopt NDC technology to improve product visibility,
personalization and customer experience.
