Dhaka: Biman Bangladesh Airlines accorded a warm reception to the Bangladesh youth table tennis team at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on April 13, congratulating them on their historic success at the South Asian Youth Table Tennis Championship held in Shimla, India.

The reception ceremony featured floral greetings for the players, coaches, and officials in recognition of what has been described as Bangladesh’s best-ever performance in the tournament, read a press release.

Competing under challenging conditions over five days, including cold weather and high-altitude difficulties, the Bangladesh youth team delivered an outstanding performance. The team secured a total of eight medals, including a gold in the Under-19 boys’ team event and a silver in the Under-19 doubles, marking a significant milestone for the country’s table tennis.

Speaking at the event, Captain A. M. Maksud Ahmed, a pilot of Biman Bangladesh Airlines and General Secretary of the Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation, praised the team's resilience and discipline. He noted that despite adverse conditions, the players demonstrated remarkable determination, adding that their achievement would inspire the nation’s sporting community.

The team captain and players expressed gratitude for the warm reception, saying it would motivate them to aim for even greater success in future international competitions.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national sports and pledged to continue standing beside the country's athletes in their journey toward excellence.
