Aviation.com.bd holds workshop on ground operations careers
Dhaka: Aviation.com.bd organized a day-long workshop, titled "Introduction to Aviation Ground Operation," at Bishwo Sahitto Kendro in the capital on September 26 to introduce young people to aviation ground operations and the career opportunities available in the sector.
Organizers said Bangladesh's expanding airport infrastructure and growing aviation activities are driving demand for skilled professionals. They pointed to the new third terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, new ground-handling operators, and expanding airport services as key factors behind the shift.
Md. Harunur Rashid, Founder and CEO of Aviation.com.bd, conducted the first session, introducing participants to ground operations. He covered stakeholders in ground handling, the full cycle of activities from an aircraft's arrival to departure, including passenger services, baggage and cargo handling, airside operations, and the importance of safety and security awareness.
The second session was led by Misbah Al Ahmed Majumder, an aviation professional with 37 years of experience working with international airlines in Bangladesh.
He shared his career journey, discussed shifts in the industry, outlined potential career pathways, and explained employer expectations. He also advised participants on the skills needed to build a career in the sector and took part in a question-and-answer session.
The event also featured announcements of new initiatives from Aviation.com.bd. Participants received a special discount on the organization's upcoming Airport & Airline Ground Operation Foundation Course.
Aviation.com.bd and technology firm M360ICT jointly announced the launch of Jobs360.aviation.com.bd, a dedicated career platform for the aviation, tourism, and hospitality sectors. Organizers said the platform will connect employers with job seekers using technology and artificial intelligence-based tools to help recruiters find suitable professionals.
Another initiative, Project: PROMETHEUS – Pass the Flame, was unveiled to encourage knowledge-sharing between experienced professionals and the next generation across aviation, tourism, and hospitality. Aviation.com.bd said it will create opportunities for veteran professionals to serve as trainers and mentors under the program.
Speaking at the event, Md. Harunur Rashid said the country's ongoing aviation infrastructure development, including the third terminal, Bogura Airport, and Cox's Bazar Airport, marks significant progress. However, he noted, building the skilled workforce required to support this growth remains a challenge.
He added that the workshop was organized to help young people understand career opportunities and the skills needed for ground operations and other areas of the aviation industry.
Later, certificates were awarded to the 25 participants who attended the workshop.
Organizers said Aviation.com.bd regularly holds training programs, workshops, and awareness initiatives to promote aviation skills and career development among young people and plans to continue such efforts going forward.
