Ashwani Nayar wins Asia's most eminent GM award in Singapore

Dhaka: Ashwani Nayar, Area General Manager for IHG South West Asia and Cluster General Manager of Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport and InterContinental Dhaka Airport, has won the "Asia's Most Eminent General Manager Award."

The honor was conferred by CMO Asia and the World Forum of Hospitality at the 17th World Hospitality Leadership Awards, held at Pan Pacific Singapore on August 3.

In an official statement, Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport and InterContinental Dhaka Airport said the award recognized Nayar's leadership, innovation, and operational excellence, along with his contributions to the hospitality sector across Asia. Organizers cited his role in strengthening guest experiences and driving commercial performance at both Dhaka airport properties.

Under his leadership, the IHG properties at Dhaka Airport have maintained their standing among Bangladesh's leading hospitality destinations, according to a release from the two hotels, the statement added.

Reacting to the recognition, Nayar said, "This award reflects the passion, dedication, and commitment of our entire team. Hospitality is ultimately about creating meaningful experiences and lasting connections, and I am fortunate to work alongside talented professionals who share that vision."

The ceremony drew senior corporate figures and industry executives from across Asia, along with representatives from leading global organizations, including Standard Chartered Bank, Oracle, Lions International, Deloitte, and Citibank.

During the event, Nayar also spoke about the outlook for Bangladesh's hospitality industry, pointing to the ongoing transformation of Dhaka's airport ecosystem that features an integrated retail, commercial, convention, and hospitality complex.

With the two IHG properties positioned as central components of that development, he said, the project is aimed at offering travelers a smoother introduction to the city while setting new hospitality benchmarks nationwide.

Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport and InterContinental Dhaka Airport congratulated Nayar on the achievement, expressing confidence in his continued leadership as the properties expand within the airport's broader development plans.

The IHG properties said the award adds to growing regional recognition of Bangladesh's hospitality sector and points to the increasing strategic weight of the country's tourism infrastructure.
