DHL Express, Singapore Airlines renew Boeing 777 freighter partnership
Dhaka: DHL Express and Singapore Airlines (SIA) have renewed their crew and maintenance agreement covering five Boeing 777 freighters based at Singapore Changi Airport, according to a joint release the companies issued recently.
Under the renewed deal, SIA pilots will continue operating the 777s, while SIA engineers will handle their maintenance. The freighters support DHL's intercontinental air network, linking its South Asia Hub in Singapore with key destinations across the United States.
Travis Cobb, Executive Vice President for Network Operations and Aviation at DHL Express, said the renewal underscores the company's commitment to network capacity that keeps global trade moving, calling the five freighters integral to its intercontinental operations and citing Singapore's strength as a logistics hub alongside SIA's operational expertise.
Lee Lik Hsin, Chief Commercial Officer of Singapore Airlines, said the agreement reflects the strength of a partnership that has supported express air freight movement between Asia-Pacific and global markets via Singapore since 2022, combining SIA's expertise with DHL's logistics network to reinforce Singapore's role as a leading air freight hub, particularly in the e-commerce segment.
The five Boeing 777 freighters, which entered service progressively starting in 2022, provide the reliable air capacity required to support time-sensitive, cross-border trade, the release said, adding that each aircraft can carry up to 102 tonnes of cargo and ranks among the world's largest, longest-range, and most capable twin-engine freighters.
With Singapore serving as the home base for the dual-liveried freighters, the renewed partnership deepens DHL's global aviation capabilities while anchoring additional long-haul cargo capacity at Changi Airport.
The agreement underscores both companies' confidence in the sustained growth of international trade and the essential role reliable air connectivity plays in supporting global supply chains.
