DSV adds Shanghai route to temperature-controlled pharma network

Shanghai : DSV is expanding its specialized pharmaceutical air cargo network with a new temperature-controlled connection between Luxembourg and Shanghai Pudong, strengthening its logistics offering for healthcare shipments moving between Europe and Asia.

The new lane is part of DSV's Air Thermo Direct service and will operate through multiple weekly departures using dedicated freighter aircraft. DSV will manage the routing, schedules and cargo handling, allowing the company greater control over shipments requiring strict temperature conditions.

At Shanghai Pudong International Airport, the service will use specialized facilities operated by Eastern Air Logistics. China Eastern Logistics Cold Chain will provide additional cold-chain handling and infrastructure.

DSV said the Shanghai connection will give pharmaceutical manufacturers more reliable access to Greater China and other Asian healthcare markets. The airport is an important regional hub for temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical cargo and international supply chains.

The logistics company is also planning a future Air ThermoDirect link between Indianapolis International Airport and Shanghai. Indiana-polis has emerged as a major US center for life sciences and healthcare logistics.

The Shanghai expansion follows DSV's launch in June of a Luxembourg-Indianapolis pharmaceutical air route, marking the second addition to the service this year.

DSV also highlighted its reusable thermal packaging program, saying it can reduce packaging waste while supporting more sustainable cold-chain transportation.
