Singapore High Commission holds cooking workshop for NHTTI students


Dhaka: The Singapore High
Commission in Dhaka organized a three-day Singapore Cooking Workshop for 20
students of the National Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (NHTTI), as part
of celebrations marking Singapore’s 61st National Day.
Held from August 10 to
12, the program aimed to promote cultural exchange and provide aspiring
hospitality professionals with hands-on experience in preparing traditional
Singaporean dishes.
Participants received practical training from a Singaporean chef and learned to prepare popular dishes including Hainanese Chicken Rice, Chilli Crab, Kueh Pie Tee, Nasi Lemak, Chicken Satay, Curry Puff, Ondeh Ondeh and Singapore Spicy Vermicelli.

The workshop concluded
with a cooking competition in which participants demonstrated the skills they
had developed during the training. The top three contestants received cash
prizes of BDT 15,000, BDT 12,000 and BDT 8,000, respectively. Two other groups
received consolation prizes of BDT 5,000 each.
The prizes are intended
to support participants' professional development, including purchasing
culinary equipment and pursuing further training.
Speaking at the closing
ceremony, Chargé d’Affaires of Singapore High Commission in Dhaka Mitchel Lee
praised the participants for their enthusiasm and dedication.
The High Commission plans
to hold another Singapore Cooking Competition for NHTTI students in September.
