SpiceJet to induct 20 leased aircraft ahead of winter peak
The airline has finalized
leasing arrangements with three aircraft operators under damp- and wet-lease
agreements. The additional aircraft are scheduled to enter service in stages
from mid-October through mid-November, ahead of the travel surge expected
around the Durga Puja period.
SpiceJet said the
expanded fleet will allow it to increase frequencies on key routes and
reinforce both its domestic and international operations. The aircraft are also
expected to support the carrier through the following summer peak season.
The airline expects the
additional capacity to provide more travel choices during periods of strong
demand and help reduce pressure on airfares by adding seats to the market.
SpiceJet Chief Business
Officer Debojo Maharshi said the carrier is focusing on deploying capacity
where passenger demand is strongest while expanding its network in a measured
manner.
The fleet expansion comes
as airlines prepare for higher passenger volumes during the winter travel
period, when demand typically rises around major holidays and festivals.
SpiceJet said the new
aircraft will help strengthen its operations while bringing greater stability
to capacity during peak travel periods.
