Wizz Air to equip 200+ aircraft with Starlink WiFi

The airline expects all
next-generation aircraft to be fitted with Starlink, meaning more than 200
Airbus A320neo-family jets could eventually receive the technology. The rollout
will allow passengers to access fast, gate-to-gate internet connectivity during
flights.
Unlike many traditional
inflight WiFi systems, Starlink enables uninterrupted internet access
throughout the journey and is typically offered free of charge to passengers.
The service supports activities such as video streaming, messaging, and voice
calls while airborne.
Wizz Air's move sets it
apart from European budget rivals, with both Ryanair and easyJet previously
declining to adopt Starlink due to cost concerns.
While the investment will
require significant spending on aircraft upgrades and connectivity services,
Wizz Air believes the technology will enhance the passenger experience and
improve operational efficiency through real-time communication and flight updates.
