FitsAir eyes Colombo–Chennai return from November

Dhaka: FitsAir is planning to resume flights from Colombo to Chennai on November 24, according to media reports, citing a recent GDS filing from the airline.
The carrier will operate a thrice-weekly service on the route, running flights every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday with the Airbus A320-200 aircraft.
Under the filed schedule, the outbound flight, 8D941, will depart Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo at 7:55 am and arrive at Chennai International Airport at 9:05 am, while the return flight, 8D942, will leave Chennai at 10:05 am to reach Colombo at 11:20 am.
The resumption would mark FitsAir's return to the South Indian city after an absence of more than a year. The route was last operated until March 2025.
Such filings in the GDS, however, indicate airline planning at an early stage, meaning schedules, aircraft type, and timings remain subject to change before the service is formally confirmed or launched.
FitsAir is a Sri Lankan private carrier based in Colombo. The airline currently serves three destinations — Dhaka in Bangladesh, Ahmedabad in India, and Male in the Maldives — with a fleet of two Airbus A320-200 aircraft.
The resumption of the Colombo–Chennai route is expected to support the carrier’s network expansion goals, as it had to scale back several routes in recent years due to commercial viability and operational challenges.
