Bangladesh seeks to expand employment in South Korea

Dhaka: Bangladesh has sought to expand employment opportunities for its workers in South Korea, particularly in seasonal jobs and the construction sector, through enhanced skills training and bilateral cooperation.
State Minister for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Md. Nurul Haque held separate meetings with representatives of the National Employment Service Association of Korea (NESA) and the Construction Association of Korea (CAK) in Seoul on October 20, according to a ministry press release.
At the meeting with NESA, the state minister called for more jobs under South Korea’s Employment Permit System (EPS), alongside cooperation in Korean-language education, vocational training and seasonal employment.
He said Bangladesh was ready to provide skilled workers to meet the Korean labour market’s needs.
In talks with CAK, Nurul Haque urged Korean construction companies to recruit more Bangladeshi workers, stressing the country’s commitment to technical training and workplace safety.
Korean representatives highlighted the importance of language proficiency, technical qualifications and safety training for workers in the construction industry.
Both sides agreed on the need to strengthen institutional cooperation and improve pre-departure training to ensure safe and productive employment for Bangladeshi workers in South Korea.
