Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup returns to Dhaka

Dhaka: Turkish Airlines, the national carrier of Türkiye, brought its World Golf Cup to Kurmitola Golf Club in the capital on October 17, drawing local dignitaries and members of the business community.
Since its launch in 2013, the tournament series has grown to host over 10,000 players across more than 130 tournaments in 84 countries worldwide.
The Dhaka leg marked the 92nd of 139 tournaments in this year's edition, with the winner advancing to the Grand Finals in Türkiye later this year, where they will play at Gloria Golf Club and stay at Gloria Serenity Resort on the Turkish Golf Coast.
Col. Md. Humayun Rashed claimed the Dhaka championship with 44 points, finishing ahead of runner-up Air Vice Marshal Md. Nazrul Islam, while S. M. Abdullah Farabi placed third.
Brigadier General Yasir Jahan and Neela Aziz won the Closest to the Pin competition in the men's and women's categories, respectively. Rashed also took the Gross award with a score of 75.
İslam Güre, General Manager of Turkish Airlines in Dhaka, thanked guests for making the event a success and congratulated the winner.
"Once again, it was a thrilling tournament in the TAWGC series, congratulations to our winner, Col. Md. Humayun Rashed," he said.
All finalists from the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup will travel to Türkiye in the airline's Business Class.
Established in 1933, Turkish Airlines serves 353 destinations across 133 countries through its Istanbul hub. It operates a fleet of 567 aircraft, including the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner, among the latest-generation types.
Over the past decade, premium Turkish Airlines events, including the Turkish Airlines Open and Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup, have established Antalya as a leading international destination for golfers worldwide.
The tournaments come as part of the Star Alliance member's commitment to supporting golf and other sports, alongside other initiatives, such as offering free carriage of one set of golf equipment per passenger on all international flights.
The airline currently operates seven weekly flights between Dhaka and Istanbul — as the only European carrier serving Bangladesh — with onward connections to other parts of the world.
Its cargo division, Turkish Cargo, also runs two weekly wide-body freighter flights to support trade between the country and global markets.
