Dhaka Regency launches Ilish Utsab

Dhaka: Dhaka Regency Hotel and Resort has launched a two-week food festival centered on hilsha, one of the most recognized staples of Bengali cuisine.

The “Ilish Utsab” is running from September 17 to October 1, offering a dedicated hilsha menu daily from noon to 11 p.m.

The festival menu features several traditional preparations, including hilsha khichuri, shorshe hilsha, hilsha fry, hilsha pulao and doi hilsha. The hotel said the dishes are prepared using traditional Bengali flavors while incorporating its own culinary approach.

Among the featured combinations is bhuna khichuri served with hilsha fry, alongside mustard-based shorshe hilsha and the milder doi hilsha. Hilsha pulao is also included as a traditional rice-based option.

The festival is designed around Bengali food traditions associated with hilsha and is aimed at diners looking to experience familiar seasonal dishes in a hotel setting.

Dhaka Regency said the event is intended to bring families, friends and other diners together around Bengali culinary traditions and memories associated with hilsha.

The festival remains available throughout its 15-day run, giving guests the opportunity to sample the different preparations at the hotel’s dining facilities during lunch and dinner hours.
