Housekeeping professionals take center stage as Bangladesh hospitality sector grows
Dhaka: Housekeeping professionals took center stage as Bangladesh celebrated International Housekeeping Week 2026, highlighting the growing importance of skilled housekeeping staff in maintaining service quality across the country’s hospitality industry.
The Bangladesh Housekeepers Association (BHA) organized the celebration at Crown Plaza Dhaka Airport, bringing together hospitality professionals, hotel executives, housekeeping staff, and industry representatives from different parts of the country.
The event featured competitions and programs aimed at recognizing the skills, creativity, and professionalism of housekeeping workers, who play a key role in ensuring cleanliness, comfort, safety, and overall guest experience at hotels.
BHA Chief Adviser and Renaissance Dhaka Gulshan Hotel General Manager Mohammad Al Amin led the opening session.
BHA Adviser Golam Habib, Chief People and Corporate Affairs Officer of Pandughar Group and Vice-President of the Bangladesh Handball Federation, and Ashwini Nair, Area General Manager of IHG South West Asia and Cluster General Manager of Crowne Plaza Dhaka Airport and InterContinental Dhaka Airport, attended the event as special guests.
Other hospitality and corporate executives, including BHA advisers Khurshed Alam and Khairul Bashar, Crowne Plaza Dhaka Gulshan General Manager Karthik VK, Platinum Hotel General Manager Alamgir Hossain, Hyatt Place Dhaka Uttara General Manager T. Kevin McIntyre, and Hotel Sarina General Manager Patrick Beck, also attended.
The celebration featured bed-making and towel-art competitions, allowing participants to demonstrate their technical skills and creativity.
To ensure participation from housekeeping professionals across the country, BHA also organized online competitions for the “Super-10 Housekeeping Supervisors and Attendants” and “Super-3 Laundry Professionals."
Winners and outstanding participants received crests and certificates from the association in recognition of their professional skills and contributions to the hospitality sector.
The event also included a cultural program and provided a platform for housekeeping professionals from leading hotels and institutions to exchange experiences, strengthen professional networks, and build greater camaraderie within the industry.
The program was organized under the leadership of BHA President Md. Parvez Mia, with active support from the association’s Secretary Khan Ali Azam and Senior Vice-President Alamgir Hossain.
The celebration underscored that housekeeping is no longer limited to behind-the-scenes hotel operations but is an integral part of maintaining hospitality standards and guest satisfaction.
Through the annual observance, BHA sought to promote professional recognition, skills development, and collaboration among housekeeping professionals as Bangladesh’s hospitality industry continues to expand.
