Syed M Omar Tayub promoted to Prime Bank’s AMD

Dhaka: Prime Bank has promoted Syed M Omar Tayub to the position of Additional Managing Director, recognizing his more than 26 years of experience across various areas of banking.

Tayub is currently serving on deputation as Managing Director and CEO of Prime Bank Investment PLC, where he has led the company’s transformation. He will continue in that role alongside his new position at Prime Bank.

His banking career spans investment banking, SME and consumer banking, branch operations and credit risk management.

Tayub returned to Prime Bank in 2020 after holding senior positions at several financial institutions. His previous roles included Chief Business Officer, Head of MSME, Head of Credit and Collections, Head of Retail and Small Business Risk, Head of Emerging Small Business and Head of Assets at Community Bank Bangladesh, Prime Bank, The City Bank, BRAC Bank and Eastern Bank.

He began his banking career with Standard Chartered Bank in 2000, working in different positions within its Consumer Banking division.

Tayub holds an Executive MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka, and a master's degree in Physics from the University of Chittagong.
