InterContinental, Radisson Blu Dhaka clinch Leading Eco-Friendly Hotel awards

Dhaka : InterContinental Dhaka and Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden both clinched awards in the category Leading Eco-Friendly Hotel at the gala ceremony of Bangladesh Travel, Tourism and Hospitality Awards 2024 held at an elite hotel in the capital on October 5.
Ashwani Nayar, General Manager, and Saadman Salahuddin, Director of Marketing of InterContinental Dhaka, received the award on behalf of the property. InterContinental Dhaka has implemented sustainable hospitality featuring eco-friendly practices to serve the environment and community.
It has replaced single-use plastic water bottles with reusable glass bottles, substituted one-time plastic packaged amenities with bulk and eco-friendly items, implemented strict measures to reduce electricity, water and gas consumption, sourced ingredients from various regions of Bangladesh and introduced rooftop gardening to grow organic ingredients at the hotel.
The hotel also collaborates with Smart Bangladesh Network, a2i and Jute Diversification Promotion Centre. It has a strategic partnership with Bangladesh Sustainability Alliance too.

On the other hand, Duco Everen De Vries, Cluster General Manager, Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden, received the award on behalf of the property. Radisson Blu Dhaka has undertaken various initiatives focusing on responsible consumption.
The hotel has taken several steps to reduce single use plastics and replace them with reusable and eco-friendly alternatives. Plastic bags have been replaced by paper-made bags. It has reduced the use of plastic water bottles by introducing reusable glass water bottles and water-filtration systems.
Single use plastic straws have been also replaced with paper made straws.
