Aviation minister orders faster baggage handling at Dhaka Airport
The minister gave the
directives during an unannounced visit to the airport on September 6, according
to a press release.
During the visit, a Biman
Bangladesh Airlines flight operating on the Jeddah–Chattogram–Dhaka route
landed at around 1pm. The minister personally monitored the entire
baggage-handling process, from opening the aircraft’s cargo hold to handling
the baggage and safely delivering it to passengers.
Millat instructed
officials to ensure better coordination between the opening of the passenger
gate and the aircraft’s cargo hold immediately after landing to reduce the time
passengers have to wait for their baggage.
He also directed
authorities to ensure that ground-handling personnel are deployed at the
airport in a planned and timely manner before each flight lands.
To ensure greater
transparency in baggage handling, the minister ordered the installation of live
monitoring screens at the airport to display real-time updates on the progress
of baggage handling for passengers.
The minister also
stressed the importance of maintaining cleanliness in airport washrooms to
ensure passenger comfort and improve services.
During the inspection, he
visited several washrooms at the airport and monitored the cleaning and
maintenance activities.

Managing Director Kaiser Sohel Ahmed, Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh
(CAAB) Chairman Air Vice Marshal Mostafa Mahmood Siddiq, and senior officials
from Biman and CAAB were present during the inspection.
