Biman resuming Dhaka–Narita flights after one-year hiatus

Dhaka: Biman Bangladesh Airlines is set to resume its direct Dhaka–Narita service early July 27, restoring the route after over one year as the national flag carrier seeks to strengthen connectivity with Japan.

The inaugural flight will be formally flagged off at 12:30 am at the VVIP Gate of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by the Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam and State Minister M. Rashiduzzaman Millat.

The flight, BG376, is scheduled to depart Dhaka at 2:00 am after boarding begins shortly after the inauguration ceremony.

The national flag carrier suspended the Dhaka-Narita route on July 1, 2025, citing concerns over commercial viability, aircraft constraints, and operating costs. Minister Afroza Khanam, however, recently said the route had begun showing encouraging signs of profitability before its closure.

Following the formation of the current government, Biman was instructed to restore the service as part of broader efforts to strengthen Bangladesh–Japan relations and enhance economic, trade, and people-to-people connectivity between the two countries.
